It isn’t just about the Tractors … While “Trattore” means “tractor” in Italian, it expresses our passion for the enduring craftsmanship of the machines that cultivate the land and feed the world.

Branded by an iconic 1967 “Bucher” tractor, Trattore Farms is a family-run business founded by a first-generation Swiss and Italian family. Proprietor Tim Bucher started making wine at age 16 in Dry Creek Valley. His passion for wine grew into a farm that produces nine Rhône Varietals, Zinfandel, and Petite Sirah and grows over 20 different olive varietals. Tim’s wife, Mary Louise, oversees all olive oil production. Together with their three children, lots of hard work, many years, and several tractors, they have transformed empty rolling hills into a true destination welcoming all guests.

Located 400 feet above the expanse of Dry Creek Valley, the estate reflects a dedication to sustainability, the highest quality farming techniques, artisanal wines, olive oils, and, yes … tractors.

Our Estate vineyards are picturesquely located on a hilltop on the eastern side of Dry Creek Valley in northern Sonoma County. With commanding views of Geyser Peak and Mount St. Helena to the east and the entire Dry Creek Valley to the west, the combination of steep rolling terrain, cool ocean influence, and warm summer days provides perfect growing conditions for our vines, which are rooted in rich, stone strewn soils. Much like the Cote Du Rhone region of France, the diverse soils of Trattore Estate Vineyards produce luscious fruit from grape varieties including Petite Sirah, Grenache, Syrah, Viognier, Marsanne, Mourvedre, Roussanne, Picpoul and Dry Creek Valley’s most famous grape variety, Zinfandel. The glorious 40-acre Estate is sustainably farmed and tended to by hand in 10 distinct blocks based on the specific soil, exposure, slope, vine age, and type. Each block is individually managed throughout the growing season to ensure the health of each vine. At harvest, we believe in micro picks: Tasting and hand-picking vine by vine, skipping rows if necessary, and searching for the ripest fruit. Ultimately, we want to preserve the essence of the fruit that goes into our Trattore Estate wines so the purest flavors come through.
